It never would have worked out anyway…
I’ve come to realize that my blogging once again has stopped considerably, but it’s because I’m much busier with living life. I think that’s a better trade, so it’s probably going to stay this way for a while. Besides, who really wants to read random things from me anyway (oh…hi Mommy
).
Anyway, in living life, I’ve run into lots of interesting situations, and some of them just aren’t suitable for conversations. They’re not inappropriate or anything, but it’s not really something that you can just randomly bring up in a conversation. So I’m going to write about them here.
The most recent situation was this guy I met. He seemed like a pretty cool guy, and I enjoyed talking to him, but the more we talked, the more uneasy I felt. I started to suspect that our beliefs weren’t actually in agreement. Upon probing, I discovered that I was correct. I am a Christian, and dream of having a husband and a family. I want my husband and I to raise our children in the Christian faith. This guy I was talking to had different dreams.
While he wouldn’t give me an exact answer about whether he was raised in faith, he did say that he would not raise his children in Christianity. He had his reasons for it, and while his reasons are valid, they are also generalizations. He claimed that all Christians act a certain way, which is not true.
Unfortunately, you can see that this is heading towards us going our separate ways. And this wouldn’t be anything to really remark about. Except for his last text to me.
Its a shame u let your faith decide your relationship
Umm, excuse me, what? Heck yes my faith is going to play a part in deciding my relationships. I already told you that my faith is my foundation. The things that make me who I am are built upon my faith. I wouldn’t be who I am if it weren’t for my faith. Without faith, I’d be a shell of a person. My faith fills the emptiness inside of me. It’s the thing that makes me feel whole. So, dear boy, I will let my faith decide my relationship, but it is not a shame.
Surfin’ Salsa

This is literally one of the most delicious things in the world.
3-5 mangos, chopped
3 jalepenos, chopped
1-2 lbs cooked shrimp, chopped
1 bunch cilantro, chopped
lime juice
Mix all together and chill for at least an hour (I’d aim for at least 3 hours to really let the flavors meld). This is delicious and nutritious. Serve with tortilla chips, or as a topping. Also, you can eat it with a spoon if you’re like me.
Early Sunday Morning Confusion #LifeOfAVolunteer
Last week, one of the brothers I live with took TWO HOURS to DRY his clothes in the dryer. Which I was not expecting, and it almost made me late to meet my friend. So this week, I did the backwards math to figure out when I would need to start my laundry to get it out of the dryer before he would be going to put it in the dryer so I can go meet my friend again. I figured out the starting at about 6 should work. So I got downstairs around 6:40 to switch my laundry over, and the brother from last week had already switched my laundry over, which is fine, except that I had to stop the dryers to go through and pull out things like bras and pantyhose that get destroyed in dryers. Yeah, yeah I know…I should hand wash these anyway, but

Anyway, so by the time everything got straightened up, I got upstairs to check the clock. I like to dry my clothes for a longer time on a lower temp because I think it helps them get less destroyed. So it usually takes about an hour for my laundry to be dry to my liking. I might be wrong about it, but this is how I do my laundry, and it seems to work. This means that my laundry will be dry just before 8am.
When the brother comes back upstairs, I let him know I’ll be down a little before 8 to pull my laundry out, and he gives me a look:

What you talkin’ ’bout Willis?
And asks “what do you have it set on?” I calmly explain my drying method, and he says “Well, I have to leave at 9am. I guess I’ll have to finish my laundry when I get back.”
In my mind, all I could think was, Brother, even if I weren’t doing laundry right now, if you’re leaving at 9am, there’s no way you’d have time to dry all your clothes based on what your drying time last week. An hour is HALF the time you took to dry those clothes. Really, if I take my clothes out a bit before 8, you should have plenty of time to dry your clothes based on what you’re asking me to do.
Basically, as much as I love the brothers, they exasperate me.
Goodbyes Made You Mine
I’m not your high school crush, your first love, your first kisss
Guy that crossed you off of his list
I’m not the red tail lights that left you behind again and again
I’m not your jealousy, pre med, big man
Promised you a ring and took another girl’s hand
What’s it gonna take to make you understand I’m not that man
This is me now
Baby, don’t doubt
The love I can give to you
You gotta know
I ain’t the same old, let you go
Run you around
String you along, do you wrong
Like they done you till now
Girl, after all you’ve been through
I knew it’d be a matter of time
Till all those goodbyes made you mine
Yeah
I’ve been your late night call, your shoulder to cry on
Out on the highway listenin’ to sad songs
Talkin’ all night ’bout stupid things, makin’ you smile
I’ve been right here all of these years
I am your man
By now, you oughta know
I ain’t the same old, let you go
Run you around
String you along, do you wrong
Like they done you till now
Girl, after all you’ve been through
I knew it’d be a matter of time
Till all those goodbyes made you mine
No more lonely nights starin’ at your cell phone
No more clingin’ to a love so cold
With me, you’ll never have to be alone
I ain’t the same old, let you go
Run you around
String you along, do you wrong
Like they done you till now
Girl, after all you’ve been through
I knew it’d be a matter of time
Till all those goodbyes made you mine
Goodbyes made you mine
I ain’t the same old, let you go
Run you around
String you along, do you wrong
Like they done you till now
Girl, after all you’ve been through
I knew it’d be a matter of time
Till all those goodbyes made you mine
Pinterest really gets me.
My last three pins were spread out over the last 24 hours…and looking back I can see that they are all related.

This shows how lighthearted and happy I felt about a day ago. Things were going well in my general life, and I was fairly content. Heck, I even had a crush on a guy I was actually talking to.
A few hours later, I found this:

At the time, I just thought it was a positive thing to hang onto for future use. I figured it would be helpful if one of my friends had a bad experience, or if one of my sisters needed to feel better because some friend or another was sort of using them.
Seems that it was really more a foreshadowing of what would to me less than 12 hours later.
Last night some things went down, and my first pin today shows a little of the attitude I was feeling.

Sassy McSassyPants, amiright?
In case this all isn’t clear, that crush thing isn’t exactly as wonderful as I was imagining.
Life sucks sometimes.
And I have real bad taste in guys.
Oh well. I’ll just perk up and keep on keeping on, since I’m awesome like that and all.
