I love planners. I really do. I can’t get enough of them. They are fun, enjoyable and help me stay organized. I love being creative with them and sitting down to plan my life out.
I’m also super picky when it comes to planners. I like things done a certain way, and after seeing one of my friends share the erin condren Teacher’s Lesson Planner, I was intrigued (and a little scared!).
Still, I decided to get it.
First, let me say that I went ALL out. I sat and planned and organized and decided exactly what I would need to be successful with this planner in the upcoming year. I can already tell you that I wish I had started my calendar in August, even though our school year doesn’t start until September.
I added in extra page protectors, and extra checklists, so mine was a little thicker and a little pricier. I did choose to go with a customized cover. I don’t like it as much as I thought I would, but it is fine. In the sample, the name went straight across the whole side, which I liked, and as you can see above, my name does not.
You can watch my periscope about the planner here.
All in all, I do recommend the erin condren Teacher’s Lesson Planner. It’s high quality, and will help you keep everything in one place. If you’re interested, sign up for a free account here, and you’ll get a $10 off code!
For the next SEVEN days, I am taking a challenge to PUSH myself OUTSIDE of my comfort zone. It’s so important for me to do something like this because I can get comfortable where I am, and it means that I’m not reaching out and growing as a person anymore. Taking on a challenge like this is extremely important for someone like me.
I like being comfortable. Really, who doesn’t? But if we get TOO comfortable, things just STOP. There’s no more growth, and no more development. Our relationships with others become stagnant. We get bored. We lose interest.
It’s time to MIX IT UP!
We shy away from any semblance of discomfort. We don’t like it because it is UNCOMFORTABLE. It is hard to appreciate that feeling in the moment, and even in looking back, sometimes we struggle to understand why that was so key and crucial to our growth.
Being a teacher, and working with people to help them grow reminds me how important it is to GET UNCOMFORTABLE. If you don’t challenge yourself, you will not change. The difference between who you want to be and who you are is what you do. If you don’t change what you’re doing, you won’t become the person you want to be.
Guess what? Today, I’m admitting something. As part of this challenge, I’m admitting that I’m NOT happy with who I am. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t dislike myself or anything. But I KNOW that I can be better. I know that I’m capable of more than I’m reaching for right now.
For the next seven days, I VOW to push myself OUTSIDE of my comfort zone so that I can grow as an individual, and as part of my team. I’m ready to MIX IT UP, and live life to the fullest! Let’s do this!
Police investigate new ‘cyber-flashing’ crime
A female commuter describes how she was left feeling ‘violated’ after receiving an unwanted sexual image on her smart phone
Police are investigating a ‘new’ crime after a commuter received an unwanted picture of a penis via Apple’s Airdrop function.
Dubbed ‘cyber-flashing’, a 34-year-old woman contacted British Transport Police after she received the unwanted image while she was heading to work.
Lorraine Crighton-Smith, who was travelling on a train in south London, told the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme: “I had Airdrop switched on because I had been using it previously to send photos to another iPhone user – and a picture appeared on the screen of a man’s penis, which I was quite shocked by.
“So, I declined the image, instinctively, and another image appeared, at which [point] I realised someone nearby must be sending them, and that concerned me. I felt violated, it was a very unpleasant thing to have forced upon my screen.`
“I was also worried about who else might have been a recipient, it might have been a child, someone more vulnerable than me.
“My name on Airdrop says Lorraine so they knew they were sending it to a woman. The images were of a sexual nature and it was distressing.”
Transport police are investigating the ‘new’ crime, and have urged anybody else who suffers something similar to come forward.
3 Steps to Protect YOU Now:
This is a problem for iOS and Mac users right out of the box, so I am only covering these devices. We can protect ourselves from CYBER FLASHING very easily.
- Change your air drop settings (swipe up to get to your control center)
- Turn off air drop or
- Set air drop to “Only Contacts”
- Change your device names. Don’t use your name/location AT ALL.
- iOS Device (iPhone, iPad, etc): Settings > General > About > Name
- Mac Computer: System Preferences > Sharing > Computer Name
- Turn off Wifi and/or Bluetooth (Air Drop requires these to work)
Do this on your devices, your family’s devices, your kid’s devices. SAVE YOURSELF NOW! There is NO REASON for you to be a victim!
